Sunday 30 April is the European Day of Megalithic Culture organized by our partner network Megalithic Routes. On this day, people throughout Europe reflect on Megalithic structures such as Stonehenge, Carnac, menhirs and dolmen. Like dolmens, these are megalithic monuments.

Legio Secunda Augusta Nederland is a dutch living history group that aims to portray the Roman and native life in the Netherlands in the first and second century AD.
We try to show a cross section of life in a roman encampment and neighboring vicus. In addition to the recognizable Roman legionaries, the military department also consists of auxilia, or the auxiliary troops that can come from our region, but also from the many other corners of the Roman Empire. A centurion, optio make sure the drill is flawless. The medicus will show of his fine Pompeian tools, tell his favorite medical stories and might even perform a surgery or two.
Public participation in archaeological projects is becoming ever more essential and experimental archaeology is an excellent way of reaching out: doing things together and exploring the various technological choices of the past creates a scientific community in which both scientists and the general public can benefit.

Hunebedcentrum organizes our foraging workshops, together with experienced instructors Leah & Tim of 'In het Wilde Weg'. Per season you will be taken into nature and you will learn what there is to eat (and drink), both above and below ground.
There is a new digital children's route starting at the Hunebedcentrum in Borger. This walking route takes you into the world of the hunebed builders. The route has been developed especially for the experience of children. The Drenthe Landscape and the Hunebedcentrum collaborated in the development of this route.
