Late Middle Ages

Forging knives, making paints or making finger loop bracelets: the Romans and the monasteries in the Middle Ages created many things by hand. On the handicraft course on the Vindonissa Legionnaires' Path and Königsfelden Monastery grounds, young and old can watch the professionals at work in seven workshops, try out old handicrafts for themselves and take little memories home with them.

Discover blacksmithing through the ages! Join us for a weekend of metalworking in action, and explore this craft from its invention right up to the modern era as Butser Ancient Farm is taken over by over 50 blacksmiths!

For one day only, the Crusaders are returning to Motza, establishing a village in the orchard of Beit Yelin. You are invited to join them for a day full of ancient crafts, demonstrations, workshops, historical reenactment, medieval dance lessons and a display of knights' combat.
