In the Prayer Day Holidays, we focus on the beliefs and superstitions of the Middle Ages. There is sickness on the way, a vicious fever has reached other cities and we have heard about it in Luebeck, where our merchant ships often visit. The townspeople are nervous. Some seek to God, praying their Ave Maria and use the rosary frequently, others protect themselves also with sacred amulets - a splinter from Christ's Cross is always good.

Who would have brought disease to the city? Is it the wise woman who lives on the outskirts of the forest, who has cast the evil eye on the town? She was banished to the woods after she tried to ease labor pains by crawling through a "følham", the kind of devilry has its price! Everyone knows that this way, the child becomes a werewolf - and many have seen a big wolf in the woods.

The old in the city can tell strange stories about elves, the underground and the ghost horse - just ask them.

Have a chat with citizens in Sundkøbing about their faith, religion and superstition. Maybe they have some good advice if you have a condition that is difficult to get rid of - or else you can certainly buy a healing amulet at the market or at the tin smithy.

Also visit the Magic Forest, located in Sundkøbing urban forest next to the technology park. Take a walk in the woods and learn about medieval supernatural beings as the underground, vampires, ghost horse and werewolves - if you dare!
