liveARCH Grant Agreement signed

After 3 months of negotiating, the lead partner of liveARCH, the Historisch OpenluchtMuseum Eindhoven, has signed the Grant Agreement with the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency. The three year project has a value of 1.4 Million Euro. The project bureau, which resides in Eindhoven, has visited Brussels and got many questions answered...

Session EAA presenting experimental archaeology

In October 2006, 3 EXARC members organised a session presenting experimental archaeology to a wider audience of archaeologists at the conference of the European Association of Archaeologists in Kraków, Poland. Experimental archaeology, if undertaken in a serious way and using basic scientific methods, can establish high quality insight in archaeological research. The limitations of this instrument will be equally stressed as well as which activities can be seen as experimental archaeology and which should be abandoned. During this session, examples were shown highlighting the latest developments by means of which it was made clear where the qualities lie for using this instrument in archaeology...

EuroREA 3

In Autumn 2006, EuroREA 3/2006 was published: a glossy magazine counting 100 pages. This 3rd volume was published with a circulation of 1,000 pieces and was a goodbye present of SEA: from this moment on, EuroREA is in the hands of EXARC itself. This was also first issue of EuroREA published on A4 size, we hope that this new format will be more satisfying...

In the evening of July 12th 2006, we received a fax from Brussels with the following content:
“The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency has concluded the examination of proposals submitted under the above Call for Proposals. On the basis of recommendations of independent experts from countries participating in the Culture 2000 programme, in agreement with the management Board of the programme and following the exercise of the right of scrutiny by the European Parliament, a list of projects, which have been proposed to receive an EU grant, has been established...

11th EXARC meeting

March 16th - 19th, 2006 EXARC met again in Százhalombatta, Hungary. This is the only conference of EXARC that year. The first three days, 24 EXARC participants from 10 countries joined into the 2nd International Conference on experimental archaeology and archaeological parks, which took place simultaneously, with over 20 presentations and 60 participants...
