Bärnau builds 14th century imperial palace

EXARC member „Geschichtspark Bärnau“ is situated in Southern Germany, very close to the Czech border. From 2010 onward, the museum shows life between the 8th and 13th century. Very recently, the universities of Bamberg (DE), Pilsen (CZ) and Prague (CZ) signed a joint memorandum, willing to cooperate with Bärnau in creating a common institute, the Archaeocentre, an archaeological construction area for a period of 15-20 years. Four employees will work in close cooperation with scientists using wood, stone and thatching material to create a 14th century type imperial palace. Students will learn here more about old construction techniques which they then can recognise more easily in their excavation work.
