Meeting prospective new partner with MT, Belgrade January 2012

Our search for a partner for OpenArch who could help developing the dialogue with the visitor with Archeon (NL), we ended up in Serbia. Our preference had been to add an East European partner to OpenArch to make it all more balanced and we were most happy when our colleagues in Serbia were genuinely interested – not yet a member state, Serbian partners are welcome to join an EU project like OpenArch.
The first day we spent in Belgrade with our Serbian colleagues who had no experience with EU projects, but plenty with international cooperation in general, proving to be most useful. The second day we spent at Viminacium, a Roman city under excavation, the core of the project. It is very important to learn to know each other in an early stage! The work the Serbian colleagues are doing with both excavation, reconstruction and the dialogue with the visitor is impressive. We left Belgrade with confidence in our new friends.
