CREATE AN ANCIENT FRAME DRUM – ONE OF HUMANITY’S OLDEST INSTRUMENTS!
Spend the day walking in the footsteps of our ancestors, using traditional materials and learning the history of this instrument used by Neolithic peoples, Celts, and Vikings, and still used in music today. Craftsman and musician Lewis Beck will lead you through the process of making your own frame drum and give you the expert knowledge to use, maintain, and decorate your instrument at home.
Your drum will be made of steam-bent birch wood and ethically-sourced and traditionally-prepared goat hide. You’re also invited to bring along your own decorations to truly personalise your creation. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be the proud owner of a beautiful 16inch frame-drum and beater, perfect for music making and even re-enactments. It also makes a truly unique gift!
Why not combine this with our Drumming workshop, and learn to play your new creation?
