Book Presentation - Tablets at Work

Event date:
Sunday, 3 December, 2017
Kind of Event:
for Professionals

The new book 'Tablets at Work' by Claudia Wollny will be presented this day at the archaeological open-air museum in Oerlinghausen (14-18h). This is already the third book she is publishing about these techniques.
Narrow bands with an abundance of patterns? – Tablet weaving is a fascinating textile technique which was and can still be found worldwide. Archaeological evidence from surviving textiles show the use of the technique. Weaving with little tablets (or cards) is exciting and fits well into our modern day living.
Apart from the book presentation by the author and a small exhibition of her work, there will be a demonstration of the technique by Barbara Scheel who has woven many bands in this book.
Enjoying coffee and cake, admiring the textile artwork, you also have the opportunity to acquire small presents for the coming Christmas season.
