EAD22 - 40,000 Years of Human Beings

Kind of Event

The MAMUZ Castle Asparn/Zaya turns 40,000 years of our human history into an experience! With an interactive and modern design, the exhibition in the castle gives a comprehensive insight into prehistory, early history and medieval archaeology.

The archaeological outdoor area of the MAMUZ Schloss Asparn/Zaya opens up a view of bygone living environments in Central Europe with true-to-original replicas of buildings from the Stone Age to the early Middle Ages. Huts made of clay and wood show the living and working areas from 40,000 years of human history.

Special exhibition Experimental Archaeology

With the extended special exhibition, MAMUZ Schloss Asparn/Zaya is dedicated to its core area: experimental archaeology. Exciting and unusual experiments by renowned archaeologists from all over the world will be presented, through which insightful insights into past living environments could be gained. But how can a modern attempt reflect the reality of the past? How is an experiment structured and why is meticulous documentation so important? The exhibition presents experimental archaeology as a research method and shows a wide range of test fields and areas of application.
