Crafts & Skills

Dr Alice Choyke is active in different field of interest. She worked with osseous materials from Hungary & Turkey, from the Bronze Age and Medieval period.
She has done experiments with bone tool manufacture in 1985. Later she has used experimentation to try and understand wears on bone tools reflecting length of use.
Finally, she has been involved in a long term experiment with Dr Paul Duffy investigating how wear develops at the stringing hole of bone beads. It appears after five years that wear develops very slowly opening up the possibility of trans-generational use of beads from broken-up necklaces.
