Ulster Folk & Transport Museum (UK)

Beside the permanent exhibitions, the museum has an open air wide area with both the village and the country life of one hundred years ago.

The open air part of the museum is divided into two areas, both set in the parkland of the site. The first, Ballycultra Town, was created by original buildings removed and re-erected here. The museum staff, in costume, will explain and give demonstrations of many activities which were carried out at the time such as: basket-making, weaving, open-hearth baking and printing. An authentic shop sells traditional sweets.
The second part, the rural area of the Folk Museum, will give the visitor the idea of what country life might have been at the turn of the century, with original buildings and the related activities. The rural area is complete with farm animals and crops as they would have been in the past.

The visitor centre and the permanent exhibition are rich in information and hands-on experiences related to folk life and transport.
