I am a PhD Candidate in Prehistoric Archaeology and Osteoarchaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
I am currently doing my PhD research on flint artefacts from the transitional period of Mesolithic to Neolithic in Belgium by use-wear analysis. For this research, I perform a lot of experiments using flint tools for 'Mesolithic activities', like plant or hide processing.
Dr. in Quaternary and Prehistory with European mention in the University Rovira i Virgili of Tarragona (Spain) in collaboration with the University of Ferrara (Italy).
I graduated from the University of York in 1994 with a BA in Archaeology and started making replica Viking Age artefacts in 1999, while working at the Jorvik Viking Centre.
I'm a postdoctoral research fellow and manager of the Laboratory for the Study of Human Cultural Evolution in the Institute of Archaeology, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
I teach experimental archaeology in the Anthropology department at Humboldt State University, California. The labs and classes provide student insight into past technologies, helping them recognize the tools and evidence in the field.
My dissertation looked at the possible uses of seaweed in Viking Age Metallurgy. This research used experimental methods working with seaweed in an iron-age style forge (provided by EXARC member Dave Budd).
I have worked in experimental archaeology for more than 20 years. My interest focuses on the technology and function of prehistoric stone and osseous artefacts, which I study mainly using the traceological method.
