The MAMUZ Schloss Asparn/Zaya will open the new ARCHÄO BASIS on Saturday, August 20, 2022 - a unique journey of discovery through 40,000 years of human history in Central Europe. The tour through three newly designed rooms on the ground floor of the castle offers animated films, digital games and information videos, in which the historical content of the museum is published in an interactive and descriptive way. The exhibited experiments and explanatory documentary films, which accompany researchers in their work, also arouse curiosity about experimental arcaheology. With its modern and innovative design, the ARCHÄO BASIS offers the opportunity to playfully explore prehistory and early history as well as the early Middle Ages and to get an insight into archaeological work.

As part of the opening weekend on August 20 & 21 there is a varied program of guided tours through the museum and lectures on exciting topics related to archaeological research in Lower Austria. In addition, the restoration is in operation on both days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in which visitors can look over the shoulders of the scientific staff during the restoration of archaeological excavation objects.

In the new ARCHÄO BASIS in MAMUZ Schloss Asparn/Zaya, the most important questions of archqeology are answered: How do archaeologists work and how can they tell human history over and over again? What is experimental archaeology and what insights have scientists gained through their research into history from the Paleolithic to the early Middle Ages?
