Ulvsborg Historisk Værksted (historic workshop) is an initiative of an association. After picking up a lot of experience at places like Düppel (DE), Ukranenland (DE), Gross Raden (DE), Lejre (DK) and Trelleborg (DK), at the end of the 1990s, the idea was taken up to construct a fortified farm like important farmers would have had in the period 1050-1250 AD, which in Denmark is referred to as Late Viking Age or Early Middle Ages.

Ulvsborg is situated in Denmark, in the western part of Sealand near Asnæs in 24 acres of varied nature. It shows a fortified farm like important farmers would have had in the period 1050-1250 AD. This period in Danish history is known for its many wars and crusades, both far from home as nearby in Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

Denmark has a long tradition in educational activities in reconstructed environments. Lejre, Sjælland is one of the oldest examples, but by now the country has over 25 smaller and larger education centres where school children learn about the archaeological past. A number of these sites are also open to the public. You will be able to find most of them via https://exarc.net/venues.

The medieval village is a collection of reconstructed houses, from 1350, with livestock. The village is the starting point for a lot of fun and educational experiences, and is an obvious historical excursion destination for you as a school or for your whole family.

The museum was established in 1999 by Brøndby Municipality as an offer for the municipality's primary schools. This was the year when museums, cultural institutions, theaters and primary schools in Denmark focused on the Middle Ages.
On a daily basis, the village is a living part of Brøndby Municipality with a bunch of happy and committed people who sow, build, sew, smith, take care of the animals, cover and make firewood and do things and do things.

Following up on the inception meeting back in November 2021 it was clear that a meeting opportunity for researchers, museum workers, craftspeople and practitioners in experimental archaeology was missing. A year later it was interesting to follow up on the forum to see if it was actual viable and if there was a desire to continue in its current form.
