Treasures made of maple and yew wood

The archaeological excavations in Haithabu unearthed wooden tableware in various sizes and shapes: scoops and trowels, spatulas and spoons made of maple or yew wood - some of them richly decorated.

"Nemi" Steffen Joost has dedicated himself to the art of spoon carving and demonstrates his craft at the Viking houses in Haithabu. His skillful hands create richly decorated spoons and spatulas based on archaeological models with great attention to detail. Just come by and watch. And, of course, one or a good piece can also be purchased for the home household.

Particularly suitable for: Adults, families, children
Moderation: Steffen Joost

Meeting point

The Viking Museum Haithabu consists of an exhibition house and an outdoor area with reconstructed Viking houses. The parking lot is located near the exhibition center. To get from the parking lot to the reconstructed houses, you should plan a 20-minute walk.
