In the town of Gravendam, the crew of De Jonge Kraai pull their ships onto dry land and set up a medieval encampment. Visit the encampment, listen to the stories and see life in those days.

We are writing the year 1630. The Netherlands is involved in the Eighty Years' War, also known as the Dutch Revolt: this lasts from 1568 - 1648. Allemansend, a ship's crew of the ship De Jonge Kraai, is in possession of a commission letter to prejudice to the Spanish rulers. Some crew members hire themselves out as mercenaries during land warfare. They are very popular because sailors are strong and can take a beating.
