Since 1999 "Days of Live Archaeology in Kernavė" has been a continuous educational event presenting the historical-cultural heritage of the country and neighbouring territories. The festival is annually visited by about 20,000 visitors from all regions of Lithuania and abroad.

The event attracts visitors of all ages and is particularly attractive to families. It encourages interest in the history of the region, promotes links between present and past generations, fosters an interest in patriotism, and promotes a sustainable lifestyle. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania is a long-standing patron of the festival.
