Guided visit and oral memory collection : reVIVer Bagunte / reLIVing Bagunte
The history of a given place is not confined to the material remains from the past, but also encompasses the continuous development of the experiences that took place and continue to take place there, thus turning memory into a motor of life. Far from being static, memory is a living process. It is a continuous construction which aggregates a multiplicity of images and accounts throughout generations, elaborating a more poetic and intimate interpretation that goes beyond the physicality of ruins. Therefore these experiences become an important factor for understanding what the Cividade de Bagunte was and still is: a space which has nurtured everything from children's games to local myths, the supply of vital resources, or even an important area for collecting ancient stones which have been an integral part of nearby houses or gardens for several generations.
Thus, on the European Archaeology Days 2022, APPA-VC invites you to share and listen to different accounts of the Cividade de Bagunte. This activity is open to grandparents, parents and grandchildren of all ages, whose personal stories will be used to build the memory of this special place. On Sunday, June 19, at 4 p.m., next to the new visitor's centre at the Cividade, we will set out on this journey guided by everyone's memories. Together, let's revive and bring more life to City of Bagunte!
Free access 19th June, 16:00 to 19:00, Cividade de Bagunte
