On the 15th and 16th of June 2024, during the European Archaeology Days, the Fabri Tignuarii association, which aims to reconstruct roman building techniques and engineering, will build a monumental wall, next to the Arch of Germanicus in the city of Saintes (France). Weighing one ton, the limestone blocks will have to be cut on site, as well as lifted into place using a reconstructed roman crane. The blacksmith will also forge iron clips that will link the blocks together, sealed with molten lead.
This high-risk procedure will surely be spectacular, so come and watch us in the building site, next to the Arch of Germanicus!
