In week 27 (5-11 July 2021), we focus on the art of printing, painting and writing, when our talented painting guild Sankt Lukas Gildet presents the many different techniques they master.
In the stall next door, which usually houses the tailor, we have this week set up a reconstruction of a 15th century printing press. The press is made by Jorge Lar, one of our volunteers and a member of the Saint Luke Guild. Jorge has already printed books and small prints on the great press, and during the week he will demonstrate how it works - and how Gutenberg's new techniques revolutionized book production in the Middle Ages.

Before Guttenberg's printing press made its entrance, all books were copied and written by hand. It took a long time and was a costly affair, with the printing press being bent and printed material more accessible to the common man.
Throughout the week, it will be possible to follow the painters' guild closely and there will also be the opportunity to try your hand at some of the techniques
