For once, the museum day takes place online and offline at the same time. Our on-site program shows what we can take with us from the past for the future. The #museumkick campaign invites everyone to post their own museum experiences in the virtual space.

The motto of the International Museum Day in 2021 is “Museums inspire the future”. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the museum you can find out on short tours, via information posters and hands-on activities, why everything wasn't better in the past. Issues such as environmental toxins, migration and social inequality were already topical in prehistory.

ICOM Switzerland and the Association of Museums in Switzerland VMS are expanding this year's Museum Day into virtual space and launching a social media campaign. Museum visitors tell of their enthusiasm for museums and invite you to post your own museum experiences under the hashtag #museumkick.
