The 83rd conference of the Northwest German Association for Archaeological Research will take place in Heide, Holstein (DE). One of their sessions is particularly interesting: the meeting of the workgroup „archaeological museums” of the German Museum Association. This conference will be in German.
I started working in the experimental field while still in university. Mostly I do reconstructions of iron objects and medieval shoes. These days I run the museums forge of the archaeological open-air museum "Bajuwarenhof Kirchheim", where I also present other crafts to the public.
The Vikings & Slavs are coming!
Every two years, the APX opens its doors to the largest of all Roman festivals. Up to 500 participants from across Europe show their skills live in crafts, fighting, cooking and making music. For two full days, the park is filled with vibrant archeology for watching and participating.
In collaboration with the Vor- und Frühgeschichtlichen Archäologie der Philipps-Universität Marburg, the glass furnace project BFP2018 will be carried out in the archaeology park Roman Villa Borg in the first week of June. Open to the public is the "Glassmakers Weekend" from 9 to 10 June 2018.
