Workshop: Bayeux stitch embroidery

The Bayeux carpet is considered to be one of the most famous handicrafts of the Middle Ages. At 68 meters, the embroidery represents the conquest of England from a contemporary perspective.

The Bayeux stitch named after the carpet makes it possible to hold the thread material, which was expensive at the time, on the top of the fabric and can therefore fill large areas without damaging the material. Since you usually had to make your own yarn in the past, it was particularly important to use the material sparingly.

In our workshop we show the basic technique of the Bayeux stitch and how it can be used to embroider a variety of motifs.

Since nobody wants to get stressed at the weekend, we organize our workshop in the usual cozy atmosphere with a cup of coffee or tea. The work itself offers ample opportunity for a nice chat with the course instructor and the other participants.

Due to the limited number of participants, we ask you to register in advance.
