Meet the expert: The Neolithic in Brandenburg

A guided tour with Ralf Lehmphul M.A., Brandenburg State Authorities for Heritage Management

The permanent exhibition of the Brandenburg State Museum of Archaeology contains numerous treasures dating to the Neolithic. This tour is discussing several aspects of this rather dynamic period, focussing not exclusively on neolithic remains from the State of Brandenburg, but from Central and Northern Europe as well. The slow process of settling will be outlined and explained by presenting results of recent archaeological research. The participants encounter an astonishing variety of neolithic pottery and get to know burial and cultural practices of the first farmers and settlers. Last but not least the guided tour deals with one of the most important raw materials of this time: stone.

The guided tour is designed likewise for teenagers and adults and will take approximately 60 minutes. The number of participants is depending on the current pandemic regulations.

The tour starts at 14.00 and is included in the entrance fee.
