10am-5pm 17 and 18 August (arena displays at 12.30am and 2.30pm) Fresh from their conquest of Anglesey, soldiers of the Roman army have come to Castell Henllys to complete their occupation of Wales! Now the battles are over, will they destroy the fort? Will they try to encourage the tribe to adopt the Roman way of life and one day become Roman citizens?

Create your own a bark container, like those found alongside Ötzi the Iceman in the Italian Alps in 1991. Come and find out more about one of the most important archaeological finds of the 20th century and how bark and other plant fibres such as bast were used during prehistory to create equipment, clothing and structures.

Woad Workshop Enjoy an introduction to woad - the ancient blue dye. You will make a dye vat and create various shades on wool yarn and fleece, learn about the dyeing process and how to grow woad. Price includes all materials, use of equipment and notes to take home.

Discover the Iberian Citadel of Calafell during the European Archaeology Days. On Saturday 15 June, this Archaeological Open Air Museum about the Iberian culture will have open days from 10 AM to 2 PM in the morning and from 4 to 7 PM in the afternoon.

During this lecture, Nathan Schneider will introduce the public to Experimental Archaeology, using his Master's Thesis work on the Clonoura shield he undertook at University College Dublin. The lecture is in French.
