On the weekend of October 26 and 27, young and old are welcome at the OER weekend in the Hunebed Center. This weekend the Prehistoric Park is filled with prehistoric ancient people who bring the past to life.
Between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, visitors can explore thousands of years of history on both days, see ancient crafts such as bronze casting, iron smelting, making fire through friction and flint being processed into ingenious tools. There is also plenty to try out yourself!
The first farmers of the Northern Netherlands
The first farmers in Drenthe started living in a permanent place more than 5,000 years ago. During the Oerweekend, visitors get a glimpse into their lives, and those of the people who lived in Drenthe even longer ago... The hunters and gatherers. It doesn't stop at just looking, as a visitor you can also become a bit of a primal human yourself. Make your own rock painting or funnel beaker, try to make your own fire or take a guided tour to gain extra knowledge about prehistory. If you are interested in the past, this weekend is the chance to dive into it.
