Late Middle Ages

Attention to wool and spinning lovers! We are organizing a spinners' weekend on 3 and 4 August. You are welcome these two days to discover everything about the history of spinning wool and flax, but especially to participate. Take your own spinning reel or wheel and join our spinning group to spin the best threads in a beautiful historic environment. We provide wool!

Highlighting the continuous dialogue between the Middle Ages and the post-medieval world, In the Middle is an international interdisciplinary conference that seeks to explore the ways, methods and motivations in which the medieval period has been imagined, evoked, re-lived, and refashioned in contemporary popular culture.

In the Middle Ages it was popular to hunt with falcons if you were a rich nobleman or woman. It was a favorite leisure activity and is seen pictured in many simultaneous illustrations.

During the season, we focus on craftsmanship in the Middle Ages. In selected theme weekends we take different crafts during loving treatment.
At Pentecost (8 - 10 June) we go in depth with the textile craft in the Middle Ages.

Last year we began our season with a pilgrimage – it was a succes so we are planning another one this year!
Many heard about the big holy pilgrimage paths as Santiago De Compostella and of course Rome and Jerusalem. But there was a lot of other places, also in Denmark, where you could make your pilgrimage to.

Our craftspeople will stoke the lime kiln until the iron doors bend. These days, 20 sterling firewood, many diligent hands, and countless liters of sweat turn 2.2 tons of limestone into about 1.5 tons of quicklime.
