The Kamianets-Podilskyi Museum under the auspices of the EXARC association with the cooperation of the NGO "Chorna Halych" is holding the first international scientific and practical conference "Living history and experimental archaeology". Purpose of the conference: Studying and spreading in Ukraine experience in the field of experimental archaeology, living history, as well as the application of this experience in museum, tourism and other fields.

Areas of work of the conference:

1. Experimental archaeology;
2. Experience in reproducing ancient crafts and technologies, objects of material culture;
3. Cooperation of museums and nature reserves of Ukraine with public organisations and associations working in the field of experimental archaeology, re-enactment et cetera;
4. Conducting living history activities on the basis of museums;
5. Historical cuisine;
6. Use of fortification objects, archaeology monuments and others in tourism activities.

Topics for discussion:
1. Experimental archaeology as a factor in the development of culture and history reserves, open-air museums, and museums.

2. Experimental archaeology and living history – a method of communication, conveying information, scientific direction, promotion of ideas and values.

  • Why should such a method of conveying information occupy an important place? Why can it be more effective than other methods?
  • How to achieve this?

3. Practical issues and difficulties of project implementation.

  • Activity planning. Searching for information to gain experience. Risks and challenges.
  • Possible directions of development of the SUN initiative: determination of further steps; involvement of participants; dissemination of educational information;
  • Exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience.
