Past, present and future of wool come together during Wool Time
Dutch sheep produce around 1.5 million kilos of wool every year. It is estimated that as much as 95% of this has no purpose. Wool has therefore become a waste product in the Netherlands. That was different thousands of years ago, you were careful with the available wool and processed it into a usable product.
During the Wool Time event, the Hunebed Center and Het Drentse Landschap will introduce visitors to the versatility of wool from the past, creative uses from the present and innovation developments for the future on Sunday, September 17.
Wool in a sustainable light
For this event, craftsmen, artists and experts are invited to share their stories and put wool in a sustainable light in their own way. View, among other things, wool felt art and design objects by Beatrice Waanders made in a radically environmentally neutral method. Talk to the initiator of Wad van Waarde (a House of Design project) about developing reusable alternatives of wool and flax for plastic or learn about the positive contribution of wool to the soil via Oro Plant Food. In addition to an extensive number of stall holders and exhibitors, there is also a program of lectures. Most participants can be found at https://www.hunebedcentrum.eu/events/wol-tijd/ .
Free event
Wool time is on Sunday, September 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Hunebed Center. Entrance to Wool Time is free. For an extra OER experience, we recommend that you also purchase an entrance ticket to the Hunebed Center so that you can learn more about the oldest wool users.
