For the past 40 years, the archaeological open-air site has been the scene of experimental archaeological research every year.

It is believed that people have been using wild herbs as useful or medicinal plants since prehistory. Many plants can look back on a long cultural history. During the "Herbs in Ancient Times" experience weekend, visitors to MAMUZ receive a herb tour

Over two days, you can experience the everyday life of our ancestors from the Paleolithic to the early Middle Ages in the archaeological open-air area: authentic camp life, exciting exhibition fights, demonstrations of historical crafts, hands-on stations, music and much more create a unique spectacle.

Panel on experimental archaeology at the UK Classical Association Conference. The panel will take place in hybrid format on Monday April 11th, 9-11am UK time, and is entitled "Experimenting with the past: experimental archaeology and the prehistoric and classical worlds"; it features the following papers:

#Compast will bring together people who want to share and extend their knowledge of how live interpretation and museum theatre are used to interpret the past in museums and at heritage sites. The Conference is organised by IMTAL Europe and the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences/Dept. of Communication, Media and Culture.

With the extended special exhibition, MAMUZ Schloss Asparn/Zaya is dedicated to its core area: experimental archaeology. Exciting and unusual experiments by renowned archaeologists from all over the world will be presented, through which insightful

20,000 years ago herds of wild horses roamed the landscapes of Europe. They inspired people to paint caves, but were also hunted. It was only much later, in the Bronze Age, that horses were tamed and used as draft and riding animals. Today there are efforts to preserve the last wild horses. An afternoon for horse lovers with a wide range of activities.
