During the last week of July, Swifterkamp will host the European Stone Age Gathering. From 6 different countries, 40 stone-age specialists will gather to share various aspects of Stone Age living. A wide spectrum of specialties is represented, like stone-age cooking, skin tanning, flint knapping, building construction, or working with natural fibers.

A lecture about protection of cultural heritage, ancient archery, video tour around the archaeological garden bronze casting, dyeing fabric with natural pigments and nalbinding workshops.
I focus on the function of the prehistoric lithic and bone/antler objects, as well as early farming, and cultivation and processing of plants in the Stone Age.
The five-day workshop gives an overview of the current methods in functional analysis of stone tools and provides the participants with an elementary understanding of how signs of use are detected on lithic artefacts. The program combines guided practical work in the lab with presentations given by members of the TraceoLab research team on key aspects of the present-day methodology.
