Frustration. Uncertainty. Anger. Heartache. 2020 has given us much. We’ve also been harshly reminded that climate change is upon us, that politicians equivocate, that people have opinions, and that murder hornets are a thing. Our industry has been hit particularly hard. Many of us have been let go. Positions have been redefined, reassigned, or eliminated entirely. Institutions are downsizing, and there is no guarantee that the museum world will return bearing any resemblance to its former self.

Circumstances caused us to cancel our in-person conference, but we are happy to announce that we will mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of IMTAL with a virtual conference. We’ll do it on what has become the de facto means of gathering, Zoom.

In acknowledgement of our collective circumstances, the conference sessions are free to all registrants.

IMTAL Founder Catherine Hughes will present the keynote.

Sessions include:

Museum Theatre and Social Justice, What We Did in the Lockdown, A Look Back at Thirty Years of IMTAL, reports from IMTAL Europe and IMTAL Asia-Pacific, Those We Left Behind, and Idea Thunderdome Roundtable.

Register here. Zoom link will be sent to registrants the week before the event.
