A late Byzantine Living History Event

We extend our cordial invitation to you to participate in the upcoming International Archaeological Conference "Medieval Castles of Eastern Europe in the Context of European History: Current Issues of Archaeological Research and Reconstruction" to be held in Zvyagel, Zhytomyr region, Ukraine, on October 3-4, 2024.

Summer is almost over, and we’ll celebrate this with a large annual medieval party on 24 and 25 August. For two days, the preHistorisch Dorp will host a large market in medieval style, where traders offer their goods. The annual medieval market is meant for everyone who enjoys a lively spectacle of artisans, knights, merchants, storytellers, and more.

When you see finds from the Middle Ages in the museum display cases, you can easily get the impression that everything back then was in dull earth tones. But in fact the Middle Ages loved parties and colors at least as much as we do - it was in fact a very, very colorful time, and the brown, gray and dull colors we know from museums are only due to the fact that things are so old.

Early Textile Study Group Conference 2024
ON THE EDGE: Textile and Garment Edge, Borders and Trimmings

We are very excited to announce the dates and location for our 2025 Experimental Archaeology Conference - EAC14.

Where: Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in Curitiba, Brazil.
When: 12-16th May 2025 (3 days of conference, followed by 2 days of optional excursions)

This conference is open to all people with a museum or technical background who are interested in digital tools in the cultural sector. Our focus is on museums and other parties working with reconstructions (for example replica ships or other constructions that are not permanently tied to a museum).
