The “Autumn Fire Festival” in Dithmarschen is the Stone Age's answer to Halloween
Events begin when the park opens at 11 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Immediately afterwards, a lantern parade starts at 5 p.m. through the park and through the outdoor area. At around 6 p.m. the “Stone Age shaman” will light a mystical fire in the Stone Age village and tell a story about the fire.
The following activities will be offered on this day:
In the Mesolithic hunting settlement: different ways of making fire; The Stone Age hunter Werner Pfeifer will explain and demonstrate practically how a fire was lit in the Stone Age.
On the Times Meadow: here you will find various activities such as blacksmithing, casting Thor's hammers, making glass beads as a demonstration, and a sales stand with lanterns and candles.
In the Neolithic farming settlement: there is stick bread at the large fireplace and turnips are carved (for and as torches).
From 5 p.m. lantern parade through the park, around 6 p.m. fire action with the shaman in the Stone Age village.
All activities and demonstrations are included in the normal entrance fee to the Stone Age Park. Anyone who would like to take part in the evening events must have paid their entry at the box office by around 4.45 p.m.
