This all day session covers both rush and willow weaving.

This course aims to teach the basics of willow weaving and rush weaving suitable for complete beginners.

Why willow and rush? These natural fibres are one of the most sustainable and flexible products you can work with. It is 100% natural and not only grows very quickly but is sustainably sourced, locally grown and easily available. A truly eco product.Course attendees will go home with a home-made willow basket and something made of rush as well, providing attendees with an all-round introduction into both willow and rush.

Willow is not confined to making a basket. Garden obelisks, statues, coffins are but a few items a novice can be work towards making as this craft has many transferable skills. Using basic tools such as a knife or a pair of secateurs this makes a new hobby to be very cost effective.
