In the slipstream of the ICOM General Conference in Kyoto, EXARC organises a field trip to museums in Japan. This excursion is open to any museum professional in the world. The program is developed in cooperation with the Dutch embassy in Japan. Costs are estimated between 800 and 1,000 EUR (depending on the number of participants), which includes:

# Roundway ticket from Kyoto Station to Nagasaki Station
# Transportation and interpretation during program in Kyushu
# Hotels and subsistence (excluding dinner)

Day 1: Thursday 5 September

Morning: train from Kyoto to Nagasaki
Afternoon: Visit to the Dejima Museum, the restored Dutch Cemetery, Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture
Night in Nagasaki

Day 2: Friday 6 September
By bus via Arita to Hirado
Visit to Arita – Kyushu Ceramic Museum, Creative Residency in Arita, Kakiemon Kiln, etc
Early evening: arrival in Hirado
Night in Hirado

Day 3: Saturday 7 September
Visit to the Matsura Historical Museum, Hirado Dutch Trade Post, and other shared heritage related sites
- Presentation about the Dutch Trade Post Heritage Network by representatives of Hirado and Dejima
​-Joint exchange where the museum professionals present themselves and their organisations and discuss with the Japanese colleagues in Kyushu, followed by an exchange of thoughts on how the present museums can cooperate as hubs. 

Bus to Fukuoka
Night in Fukuoka

Dag 4: Sunday 8 September
Visit to and presentations by the Kyushu National Museum
Possible visit to the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
Travel back by train to Kyoto
