In keeping with the theme of the year, everything at the Lauresham open-air laboratory revolves around the topic of textile production and processing. Using an interactive map, you can watch videos on wool, nettle or flax processing as well as artisans spinning or weaving. You will also get fascinating insights into the world of dyeing.

Gladiatorenschule Trier e.V. - Lvdvs Treverorvm (DE)

Based on the current archaeological findings and the knowledge of various martial arts, we reconstruct, train and demonstrate the gladiator fights of antiquity.

We believe that gladiatorship was anything but an undemanding slaughter. It was a martial art with the presentation of Virtus "Roman virtues" at the highest level. This level is our goal! We have the claim, to learn what the art the gladiator was about and strive to perfection when it comes to being a roman fighter. It is our intention to teach the knowledge we accumulate - cause we believe, that only be understanding our past, we can forge our future.

The Antler Carver is in Town

In the Viking Age, bone and antler carvers were skilled craftsmen who made everyday objects as well as richly decorated things for upscale needs. Combs, needles, spindle whorls, knife handles, game pieces, flutes and small containers were made in their workshops. As raw material they used red deer and reindeer antlers, moose shovels, but also bones from swans, wild and domestic animals.
