Big historic summer festival

Our big historic summer festival always takes place on the penultimate weekend in August and has now firmly established itself in the diaries of many interested parties and families. In addition, many tourists visit the medieval goings-on. With free admission, there are various historical groups every year that set up camp and enliven the historical reconstruction buildings of the (early) Middle Ages.

Visitors can, for example, make camp, forging, dyeing, spinning, carving, glass beads, making arrows and bows, throwing stones, casting tin, pottery, and much more. Look over your shoulders and there are many stations to join in: including building swords and shields, climbing campaigns from “Enterprise Adventure”, printing on the replica of a Gutenberg printing press, minting coins, various games of the Lübeck mobile game, juggling, archery, or in the straw romp.

In our historic Wandstabkirche St. Nikolai, a reconstruction of a Scandinavian church from 1169, there are various short lectures every year.

But not only people enliven this unique historical experience space, animals too. Many animals live here, which are on the red list of endangered domestic and farm animal breeds (Jakobs sheep, Thuringian forest goats, old German herding dogs, English park cattle, Exmoor ponies and Silesian cold blood horses) and every year there is also the animal park "Arche Warder" with additional ones Breeds on site.

The Schleswig blood horses can also be admired in action. There are demonstrations in the wooden back (pulling tree trunks with horses) or you can let them drive you with the covered wagon of the Isenberg family.
