In the first EAC to be held outside of Europe, EXARC would like to extend our thanks to the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) - one of the oldest universities in Brazil - who will be hosting the conference on site at their campus in Curitiba, which is the capital city of the state of Paraná. Curitiba, the capital of the state of Paraná, is known for its urban planning, tourist attractions, and its parks and forests. The event is located at the Campus Juvevê. Rua Bom Jesus, 360.

Transport:
To get to Curitiba, the Afonso Pena International Airport (CWB), located in São José dos Pinhais, is the main access point and is about 18 km from downtown Curitiba. Transportation can be done by taxi, Uber, or bus (There is a bus line, E32, known as Ligeirinho Aeroporto. Trips run from 6 am to 11 pm). The executive bus is closed for an indefinite period.

Attractions in Curitiba:
- Jardim Botânico (Botanic Garden): One of Curitiba's postcards, with its glass greenhouse inspired by the Crystal Palace in London, beautiful gardens and leisure areas.

- Largo da Ordem: Part of the historic center of Curitiba, with old buildings, churches and traditional bars, in addition to being the location of the famous Feira do Largo da Ordem.
- Bairro Santa Felicidade: Region known for its strong Italian influence, with traditional restaurants and wineries, ideal for those who enjoy good food.
- Passeio Público: The oldest park in the city, with lakes, animals and common areas.
- Feira do Largo da Ordem: Held on Sundays, it is a cultural and commercial spot where you can find everything from local crafts to typical foods.
The city also has a cultural scene with several museums, such as the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, the Egyptian Museum of the Rosicrucian Order, the Museum of Life, the Holocaust Museum, the Expeditionary Museum, the Paraná Museum, the Museum of Indigenous Art, the Automobile Museum, the Alfredo Andersen House Museum, the Solar do Barão and the Railway Museum.
The Linha Turismo is a practical option for visiting the city's main attractions. It is a public transport line that runs a route using special double-decker buses, which pass through 26 points of interest in Curitiba. In addition, Curitiba has a good public transport infrastructure and is easy to get around by bicycle. This offers a sustainable and enjoyable way to explore the city, especially in the central areas. Tours to archaeological sites are included in the conferece program (see below for more information). But the region has much to know in the previous or following days:
- Morretes: Approximately 70 km from Curitiba, Morretes is a historic city that enchants visitors with its colonial architecture, traditional cuisine and nature. The train ride through the Serra do Mar to get there is a unique experience.
- Paranaguá: Located 91 km from the capital, Paranaguá is ideal for boat trips around the Paranaguá Bay, in addition to being home to the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology (MAE-UFPR) and the Aquarium.
- São José dos Pinhais and Colombo: Less than 20 km from Curitiba, the two cities are known for a tourist route that brings together wineries, rural properties and restaurants that offer colonial products and local wines. Interesting tours for those who enjoy rural tourism and typical cuisine. Both cities are great destinations for a weekend trip close to the capital.
- Lapa: 70 km from Curitiba, Lapa is one of the oldest cities in Paraná and has preserved its historic center, with colonial buildings of great cultural and historical value.
- Ilha do Mel (Mel Island): Located approximately 130 km from Curitiba, Ilha do Mel is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Paraná, and can be reached by boat from Paranaguá or Pontal do Sul. Among the main attractions are the Encantadas Beach, Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres, Farol das Conchas, ecological trails and deserted beaches, perfect for hiking and diving. Ilha do Mel is an environmental protection area, with limited access to ensure its preservation.
- Vila Velha State Park: Located in Ponta Grossa, approximately 100 km from Curitiba, it is one of the main tourist attractions in the region. The park is known for its sandstone rock formations that resemble figures such as camels and cups, as well as Lagoa Dourada and Furnas, enormous craters with underground lakes. The park offers trails, guided tours and ecotourism activities, providing an experience of contact with the geology and nature of the region. Discord
Attending the #EAC14 Conference online is free and open access to all. It will be live streamed on YouTube via EXARCs official channel. Here you can follow each session, and ask questions in our Q&A. Speakers will be present to answer a number of these questions. Besides that, we have a free and open access "plus" platform, Discord. Here you can interact with one another in thematic text and audio channels.

The academic program of presentations will take place between 12th-14th May 2025. We would like to invite participants to send in their abstracts for papers relating to experimental archaeology around the world. The sessions will be split into several themes, and we encourage speakers to submit their papers related to one of these themes (although other papers are also welcome and will be fit into the program when possible):

Day 3: Pottery and other technologies
