I am the Prehistoric Archaeologist for the Tennessee Division of Archaeology in Nashville, Tennessee. My work includes managing ancient Native American sites on state-owned lands, conducting archaeological excavations and research, and informing the public about Tennessee’s archaeological heritage. I have also been an adjunct professor in the department of Sociology and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State University since 2009. My recent research focuses on freshwater shell Archaic sites along the Middle Cumberland River Valley of Tennessee, foodways archaeology in the Southeastern United States, and the archaeological footprint of tattooing. My experimental studies since 2013 have focused primarily on bone tool replication and use wear analysis.
