Steinzeit Siegsdorf in the Chiemgau, Bavaria, is a small site for museum education. It offers tourists, museum visitors and local inhabitants a “bonus” to the next-door “Siegsdorfer Naturkunde & Mammutmuseum”; where the museum offers a history based on science, at Steinzeit-Siegsdorf the offer is to try out and make things yourself. About 20% of the visitors are pupils in school groups.

In 1998, the association called “Nucleus” was founded as a private project, by three archaeologists. They wanted to present Prehistoric artefacts through a new (at that time) light: in comparison with native tribes.

At Randau, an outskirt of Magdeburg, artefacts of Neolithic origin were found and secured during World War II. In the late 1990s, the idea came up to reconstruct the place. The city Magdeburg offered workforce and the Arbeitsamt covered costs.

The Paléosite de Saint-Césaire is an interactive and modern museum, a combination of indoor and outdoor. July 1979 at archaeological excavations, bones of a young Neanderthal woman of 35,000 years old were found here, then named Pierette. The discovery led to new ideas about the Neanderthal people and the succession by modern home sapiens in Western Europe.

At Bruniquel in a secret valley animations take place in the reconstruction of a Palaeolithic camp with various types of habitats in the wild in an area rich in archaeological deposits.

At Quinson, the departmental museum of the area “Alpes de Haute-Provence” is situated. The goal is to conserve the cultural archaeological Heritage of the Verdon Region, study this patrimony and show and explain it to the public.

A stone, a fragment of pottery surfacing from the soil; the remains of people who have gone before us: who made them and how? Why? Archeoland, founded by Renato Fasolo, is a didactic park with both archaeological sites and reconstructed areas.

Vuollerim 6000 år is an open air museum for all ages illustrating the Stone Age of Lapland. This museum houses an exhibition called “A vision of the past”, which shows not only the original finds from the excavation, but also reconstructions of Stone Age clothes and tools based on ethnographic studies and/or finds from other places.

The fun participative workshops at the Prehistoric Park in Tarascon sur Ariège guarantee total immersion in the heart of our Magdalenian ancestors’ daily life. Adults and children alike will time-travel 14 000 years back and gather new insights into prehistoric people, their way of life and their art. Numerous facilitated workshops and discovery games will immerse you in the life of a prehistoric person.
