OpenArch

We just published our EXARC Journal 2014/3. It contains nine articles, of which 5 Mixed Matters and four peer-reviewed manuscripts of which three articles from the 8th UK EA Conference Oxford 2014. From 2014 we will publish four online Issues. The last one of 2014 is to be expected by November 15th.

The OpenArch Project met in June 2014 in Finland. Over 50 participants discussed the value and scale of the experimental archaeology approach to studying and presenting the past. The dialogue with science is vital for archarchaeological open-air museums, both as regards to research and for presenting how we know what we know...

Recently Archeon was awarded as the best kidsproof Museum 2013 of the Province South Holland, and the 3rd best kidsproof museum of the country. The ceremony took place at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Spring of 2014 EXARC published his first EXARC Journal Digest for this year. From 2014 the planning is to have two printed issues annually. In this number we published five peer-reviewed articles and six Mixed Matters articles. It also includes several small book reviews. All articles come from EXARC's online issues. Three of the articles are directly related to OpenArch. Digest 2014-1 was printed in 500 copies, exists out 36 pages full colour. It will be distributed between members, and at several conferences.

With three out of five years of the OpenArch behind us, also most of the work is done. We still have four conferences ahead of us, and many products to be made. The eleven partners of OpenArch are looking back, working on the 2nd interim report for Brussels. They will mention what they did, when and with whom they did it, how much time and money they spent and what the results were. The OpenArch Operational manager will then compile a full report which goes to Brussels soon. If Brussels agrees, this will mean we can continue on the chosen road, with a new part of the EU funding.
