From 2003 Wiel is medieval surgeon in Archeological Open-Air Museum Archeon, he published two medieval medical reconstructions for the EXARC Journal.
Wiel is volunteer in the Lofen Palace Utrecht, the remains of a German palace from the 11th century, called Pfalz, of the German and Salische emperors.
