Archaeological Open-Air Museum

Established in 1853 by the U.S. government as the administrative center of the newly created Dakota reservation and the site of the first organized attack in the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. A history center exhibit explores the Dakota story before, during and after the War. Self-guided trails take visitors to the restored 1861 stone warehouse and the Redwood Ferry crossing.

After the complete excavations (1999) showed the importance of the settlement, the Iron Age village of “El Cabo” was moved from the original site to prevent its destruction (it was close to an open air carbon mine) to the hill of San Macario.

The "Natural, Architectural and Archeological museum-reserve "Divnogorye" is situated 150 km to the south from Voronezh and 650 km to the south from Moscow. Its area is 1100 hectares.

In Kemerovskaya Oblast, near the village Pisanaya you will find the Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-preserve “Tomskaya Pisanitsa”. Its main attraction are petroglyphs and cave paintings. The exhibition “Ancient Dwellings” illustrates the housing traditions and architecture of peoples of the Central Siberia in the ancient time, from the late Stone Age (the Upper Paleolithic, about 45 - 30 thousand years BC).
