The Bayeux Tapestry is considered to be one of the most famous handicraft pieces of the Middle Ages. On its 68 meters, the embroidery depicts the conquest of England from a contemporary perspective. 

Söhnke Raimann, archaeotechnician at the AFM, demonstrates the production of a ready-to-fire bow and arrows. 

A foretaste of the bow making seminar on June 12th and 13th, 2021, for everyone who has not yet been able to decide to participate.

Bones, legs, horns, antlers and teeth - it's wonderful what you can use from animals. When there was no plastic, for example, combs and buttons were made from antlers and were accordingly expensive.

Horn is elastic and becomes soft when heated - not only bow ends are made from it, but all kinds of everyday devices.

Following the great success of the Virtual World Draft Animal Congress ("Draft Animals in the Past, Present and Future) in 2021, the World Draft Cattle Symposium will be held in Lorsch (Germany) from March 8-9, 2024.

During these two days, with the support of our experienced course instructors, you can plan and implement your own bronze casting projects. One-day participation is possible.

An exciting highlight for visitors to the Roman Days in Villa Borg: gladiators first give an insight into ancient tactics and technology. They show the difference between a show and a real fight - between "Hollywood" and reality. After their presentations, brave visitors can join in and take part in the trai
