Gather in the Great Roundhouse at Butser Ancient Farm as we mark the shortest day of the year with an afternoon of storytelling and meditation led by Woodland Bard Jonathon Huet.
The Winter Solstice has long been a time of celebration and ritual, acknowledging the moment from which the days will lengthen, and the sun's warmth and light will begin to return, as the cycle of the year continues its journey.
We shall explore the traditional stories of this special time and meditate on the themes that present themselves. The meditations will be based on the indigenous roots of Celtic traditions which reflect the modern need for a deep connection to nature and an understanding of ecology.
There will be the opportunity to purchase a hot drink to enjoy beside the crackling fire as we hear tales of midwinter to honour the return of the suns light.
This event is primarily aimed at adults but older children who would enjoy the gentle meditation and storytelling are also welcome.
