EXARC Meetings

In the shoulder of the OpenArch Conference, EXARC held its Annual GeneralMeeting 2013 at Archeon. Here, a new Board was elected. We thank those who supported EXARC last year as well as those taking up Board responsibility for 2013.

The Annual General Meeting also accepted the Vision for the coming years, prepared under the guidance of Steve Burrow. This vision includes an expansion from the original themes ‘archaeological open-air museums’ and ‘experimental archaeology’ to add two extra themes: ‘ancient technology’ and ‘interpretation’.

The History of Experimental Archaeology Conference held 12 -14 April at Sagnlandet Lejre (DK) was a great success, with attendees from over ten different countries. Early January saw the 7th UK Conference on Experimental Archaeology in Cardiff. With 20 speakers from over 6 countries, several demonstrations, lots of posters and an excursion to St Fagans it was a very successful edition. On April 14, the EXARC AGM took place at Parco Montale in Italy. 17th EXARC Meeting, International Archaeological Meeting of Calafell

March 1st - 3rd, 2010 A group of about 30 participants met for the 2010 EXARC Annual General Meeting which was held in Cardiff, Wales. October 7th - 9th, 2009 In Hungary, EXARC held its 15th conference, the last one in cooperation with liveARCH. EXARC had its 14th and largest conference so far in Modena. About 300 people attended a 3 day conference (March 26th - 28th, 2009), showing the potential across Europe and more specifically in Italy. From 8th to 10th February, 2008, representatives of the archaeological open-air museums in Europe met in the Danish Middelaldercentret, south of Copenhagen for their 13th meeting since 2001. The agenda involved, besides of the introduction of open-air museums that recently joint the association, the discussion of quality standards for this category of museums and the presentation of certification processes already effected in Germany...
