I'm an archaeologist from Brazil with a keen interest in the early peopling of the Americas. My current research revolves around the Slugs of the Itaparica Tradition, focusing on their production methods and uses.
PUC Goiás is the first higher education institution of central Brazil, founded in 1959, when it was called University of Goiás. In 1971, it began to have the term "Catholic" in its name. In 2009, its fiftieth anniversary, came the pontifical recognition.
The Goiás Institute of Prehistory and Anthropology (IGPA) is an academic unit of PUC Goiás. The Laboratory has a rich academic tradition spanning 50 years, marked by significant contributions in the fields of Archaeology, Anthropology, Environment, and Audiovisual Documentation. The members compose the graduation course in Archaeology and the postgraduate program in History (PPHist).
The Laboratory for Evolutionary and Experimental Archaeology and Prehistory (LAPEEX - Laboratório de Arqueologia e Pré-História Evolutiva e Experimental), headed by EXARC Member Prof. Dr. João Carlos Moreno de Sousa, is the newest laboratory for experimental archaeology in Brazil.

Gabriela Sartori Mingatos (São Paulo – Brazil – 1986), studied History at Nove de Julho University and Social Sciences at Federal University of São Paulo. She obtained her Master’s Degree at the National Museum.
The Peruaçu National Park is a nature conservation unit located in the environs of the Peruaçu River basin, in the North of the State of Minas Gerais, and it preserves an area for the Cerrado biome of Brazil. The Cerrado is an area of 2 million square kilometres and is the second largest biome covering the Brazilian territory. However, just 20% of it is preserved. The region of the Peruaçu National Park belongs to this preserved 20%. On it is one of the most important archaeological sites of rock paintings in the state of Minas Gerais.
Grupo de Estudos do Simbólico e Técnico da Olaria (Pottery Symbolic and Technical Study Group, (GESTO) is an active group in the area of Minas Gerais, Brazil, which focuses on practicing South American pottery techniques through experimental archaeology.
Their main focus is to spread archaeological knowledge, in particular the reproduction of all stages of traditional Amerindian pottery techniques, from the collection of raw materials to the reproduction of objects and the baking with wood fires. The group was born out of the great interest that students of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais had for experimental techniques of pottery reproduction. Now led by Prof.
