My particular area of knowledge is the Late Iron Age, with specialising in ancient equitation, from how bridles and saddles were made, why they were made so and the technology which went into their creation. This spans the areas of metal work, animal husbandry and antler work as much as the actual combinations of tack. Current experimental research is examining organic bridles of the Late Bronze Age in NW Europe, and why this may be important for the early medieval period, especially in the Atlantic archipelago. I am currently a Visiting Research Fellow at QUB, and a curatorial archaeologist for NI civil service.
