The Department of Archeology at the University of Zurich has an affiliated experimental archaeology group named ExperimentA (https://www.experimentarch.ch). The group runs experimental-archaeological projects, engages in public transfer (cf. images of the 2017 "Scientifica" science fair in Zurich), and is present in basic teaching modules of the study programs with experimental and empirical themes.
From autumn 2020, specific experimental teaching modules such as exercises with material techniques and chaînes opératoires (metal, flint, textiles, wood etc.) will be part of the study programs. Moreover, BA and MA students have the possibility to choose experimental-archaeological topics for their qualification thesis, and PhD students are invited to participate in interdisciplinary research projects, or launch their own initiatives.

AvAnt Ge is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote and share interest and knowledge of Antiquity with the public, through the organization of la Nuit Antique.
It is composed of scholars, professors, students and mediation professionals. By developing and fostering effective synergies between the various actors mentioned, as well as with several institutions in the region, it relies on the vitality of research in this field.
Considering the great enthusiasm of the public for Antiquity in all its forms (history, daily life, archeology, literature…), Avant Ge proposes to federate the motivation and skills of its members around this festival now well anchored in the cultural landscape of Greater Geneva.
Under the guidance of the experienced archaeologist Jürgen Junkmanns, the participants build a traditional wooden bow or a spear thrower with the associated arrows and spears.
